Day 6 Thing a Day Faux Abalone Shell Pendants

I am ready for spring!!  I am tired of the  roller coaster weather, the up and down temperature swing is hard to dress for... so I just stay in my jammies.  Makes it easier to nap.

I added wire and beads to my "fish".... Turned out pretty well.  I used 20 gauge wire to form the tail, then wrapped it with 28 gauge wire and complimentary seed beads.  I used 20 gauge wire for the "X" factor on the front and to secure the nose and eyes beads.  I covered the back with textured clay (like I used on the back of the one below)  to conceal the wire.  The next step is to add chain or cord to make a necklace.

Click on the images for a closer look.

More pieces from the same sheets of clay.

After I cut an oval to begin the fish.   I took the oval cutout, trimmed the sides. pinched the center together to form a 2nd pendant. I rolled balls from scrap clay cut them into pieces and formed the center of the pendant.

I textured a sheet of abalone clay with a nylon piece of screen, put the pendant on it and cut around the sides with an Exacto knife to cover the back.  I painted inside the cut out spaces with silver PearlEx and added a couple circles of  the same texture from the back.

I had left over strips from the back so I made this .... I am concerned it may be to fragile to use by itself,  I will either add wire ....

or maybe I can come up with a way to use it with this mirror image.... I see an Iris in the image, do you?

I plan to make a cane for tomorrow.... we'll see if I can actually carry out my plan.

Thanks for stopping by.
