Day 14 Thing A Day Texture Sheet & Heart Pendant.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY  to all my polymer clay friends.

I feel a little sad, I buried my "pretty bird"  cockatiel today.  He wasn't much of a talker, could only say "pretty bird".  He was fairly old when I got him 15 years ago, he belonged to a friend of my daughters, when the friend got a new dog the bird and the dog didn't get along so he came to live with me.  A couple years later Patty gave me a young female cockatiel to keep him company, she is feeling pretty lonely right now.   I put a couple more mirrors in the cage, that seemed to help.  I guess she will adjust. I buried him in the back garden, when the weather is warmer I will plant a lily nearby.

Okay, on to a happier topic.

My partner for the Texture and Heart Swap received the package so I can show you the texture sheets and necklace I made for her.

This is the Heart Pendant.  I made a beaded wire bail and used a decorative chain.  I used PearlEx to add sparkle to the design.

Click on the photos for a closer look.

I made  negative and positive  texture  sheets in a floral design.  I used the same Sculpey II that I used to make my other texture sheets and stamps.  ArmorAll is the best release but cornstarch and water work fairly well too.

I hope to make a cane for tomorrow.  See you then.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. It is always so difficult to lose a pet (which I can say with heartfelt sadness, as I have lost many in my lifetime)..15 years is a long time to have a pet. Even though he could only say 'Pretty Bird' in English, I'm sure he had a lot to say in bird talk to his cage mate. I love the idea of planting the lilies.

I love the heart and the beautiful texture sheets you made! Awesome!!!!

  2. So sad to lose someone you love, even if they were "only" a bird. I dread losing my oldest kitty, who is now 17.

But the necklace is BEAUTIFUL, and the textures are great.

  3. BJ, so sorry about your bird. Animals give you such a reason to keep going.
How come you use Sculpey III to make your texture sheets? They are gorgeous but I need to know. LOL

  4. Okay Bon.... go back and read Day 1 which explains how/why I used Sculpey... it 'splain it all.. You already read it, you left a comment, however it has been two weeks and us old folks can't remember that long... I know this because I had to go back and read it myself. Good thing I wrote it down!! LOL
