I was going to back him with the flower cane that I posted last time but the center of the flower was a problem, he looked like he had eyes on his body.... I should have taken a photo... but I didn't. Oh well. I also made more pendants in the same colors.
Click on the photos for a closer look.
Instead of the flower cane I used a jellyroll cane on a kinda plaid background.... here's a close up
Though you might like to see how I did the back.
I had fun playing with the flower cane and some scraps from a Skinner blend cane. I made pendants and a couple beads.
I have lots of odds and ends beads. I was sorting through a box.... here are a few I like. Do you have a stash of orphan beads? Hummm..... maybe one of these days we should have an orphan bead swap.
Okay, that's it for today, mainly I wanted to show you the cardinal. Hope my friend likes him. Shhhhhh, It's a surprise... no one tell her.... okay?
Thanks for stopping by.
Fantastic!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary!
DeleteLove the little cardinal - and the back is finished so nicely too! Sure your friend will be delighted
ReplyDeleteFunny as I was looking at your other bits - I was thinking I wonder what she'll do with those - they look like the bits I make and then they sit around on my bench for ages and end up in my big box of stuff I don't know what to do with! Lol. I have a clay day with some other local PC addicts and I think I am going to do a swap your junk and odd bits session one day soon. My old junkie beads will be someone elses treasure!
I wouldn't want to use a lot of things from my earlier days as I don't like them any more but they are too good to waste!
Hi Cara Jane, Thanks for the nice compliment on my red bird.
DeleteI put together groups of polymer clay odds and ends and sell them on Etsy, so far I've sold quite a few. I also have lots of wire dodads laying around .... I might try selling wire assortments too.
Like you I look back at some of my early stuff and I can't believe I actually thought it was pretty neat.... especially the Natasha beads and the swirlie beads... yikes.
I think your cardinal bird is a work of art. He's totally perfect from bottom to top and back to front! Lucky recipient, indeed. I also like the other pieces you made from the Skinner blend. The colors go together so well. You've got quite a bits and pieces collection of lovely orphan beads. Maybe donate to Beads of Courage?
