Mixed Media Rabbit & Cat

I dreamt about claying last night . In my dream I made lots and lots of pretty hearts for Valentine's Day.

So after I had my coffee, checked my email, checked for new posts on Polymer Clay Central, checked for new items on Flickr .... did a few chores... this is my morning routine.... I headed back to the clay room to play with clay.  I was there to make hearts,  but then I saw my nekkid wire bunny and kitty, they really needed to be finished.  I get side tracked so easily.... so, no hearts today... but I did make these.

Tomorrow I will add pin backs on my critters and then I am going make hearts.... lots and lots of  hearts..... really .... you believe me don't you?

Polymer Clay Pendants & Cat "Thing A Day" Day 25

I originally planned to finish my Kite necklace but got side tracked with household chores. I did sand these pendants.and I started a wire cat. Most of the wire work is done and then I will back it with clay. The tail is moveable. The Olympics are a definite distraction.

Polymer Clay Glitz "Thing a Day" Day 7

I'm taking a little break from faux fabric pieces... decided to do something with a little more glitz.

I used the over reduced cane from day one. I ran it thought the pasta machine several times to stretch out the pattern, then ran it though with a texture sheet and highlighted the raised areas with gold PearlEx. For the contrasting sheet I crackled gold leaf over a sheet of black clay, cut the two sheets into designs and sealed with Kato sauce. I sanded the sides and back.

For some reason I had a hard time with the photos, I tried 6 different backgrounds, these were the best... the pieces are more attractive in person.

The first pendant is made from the scraps of the larger pendant. I coiled wire to make the bails.
This is a brooch. I need your help with this one. I haven't put the pin back on yet... can't decided which angle I should use... what do you think?

Polymer Clay Two Part Pins

My cats and I are not having a good day.

Earlier this afternoon I was putting things away in the kitchen, Fritz was underfoot hoping I would drop something tasty when I accidentally stepped on his tail. I must have stepped pretty hard cause he is still giving me dirty looks and runs away if I go near him. I did feel bad about it but I'm a little tired of his holding a grudge.

Corny, on the other hand , has made it to the top of my "who I would like to strangle" list. I had a bunch of items laying on tiles ready for the oven when something startled her , she jumped in the middle and knocked everything on the floor. The carpet in that area is old and yucky so the things that weren't mushed or dented are covered in cat hair and carpet fibers.... and dirt.

So about the only thing I got accomplished today is putting pinbacks on a couple of the pins I needed to finish. Here they are.

Hawaiian Print #2

I'm still beading around the first Hawaiian Print pendant. I added colored wire to this one so it doesn't need beading.....just a matching chain. This is one of my fall flower canes. I don't do many flower canes, mine are pretty sad compared to the gorgeous flowers that cane artists make but I'm pleased with the way this one looks.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

I had these for awhile, a couple pumpkin pins and a pendant in Halloween colors with a cupid charm.... I know what your thinking.... "cupid?" looks can be deceiving ... it's really a witch, a shape changer witch.... an evil cupid.... you do not want to be shot with his arrow... strange things will happen. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Polymer Clay Weird Face Pin

I made cabochons yesterday but I have to sand them before I can take photos. While they were in the oven I made this Weird Face Pin. I ran some scrap clay through the pasta machine with a texture sheet, gathered the clay and formed the face. The eyes are glass pearls with seed bead centers.

I like his bugged out eyes and lolling tongue, I think he has character, he calms my inner weirdness for a while.... and he has a pinback so he won't be banned to the "to do" box.
